I am interested in the two coin ASE RP set this year as well. It’s certainly the most expensive year I’ve had with the Mint. Most years I don’t buy anything from them.

My main purpose for buying the Morgans is because I really like the anniversary issues of classic coins. I’ve listened to the glass half full, glass half empty arguments for and against them all year. Let’s face it, if they would have made them one oz, people would have complained they weren’t original size just like they complained about the 24k 2016s not being exactly original size. I clearly remember the whining. To me it seems a lot of people reach for reasons to not buy something to make themselves feel better because they didn’t or couldn’t get one. I could be wrong but who cares what the reasons are.

They switched over to using .999 silver in everything a few years ago. In my mind pure silver is better than a copper silver alloy anyway and it doesn’t matter that they don’t have 10% copper in them to me. It’s a very minute amount. The 2016s were pure gold and they’re awesome.

So, in order to appease the vast majority of people who want them to be the same dimensions as the originals, (which now nobody will praise them for doing) there’s no way for them to be one ounce. It was a foregone conclusion. Not just an arbitrary number to upset bullion stackers. I’m fine with that. They’re not marketed as bullion coins. It’s another special anniversary issue. People who are “stackers” only, are of course going to pass on this issue and its perfectly understandable. I’m not buying them to stack extra silver. It’s a 2021 anniversary collector coin to me. I’m taking my chances that they will not be cheaper on the secondary market. If I’m wrong it won’t be the first time. Interesting discussion as always. Just have to let it play out.
