Very easy to get to. 10 minute shuttle ride from the airport. Several nice hotels within walking distance. My room at the Crown Plaza was $85 all in for a night. I stayed 5 nights. Lots of nice restaurants with varying cuisine and price points. $30 bucks for parking and the snack bar prices are just part of the experience. Most of us know these issues well before attending. The convention center graciously allows the ANA to hold their conventions there. I'm here to tell you that the ANA attendance wise is small potatoes with an average of 9000 attendees. AMWAY, the SHRINERS and other groups bring in 40,000+ for their get togethers. No issues with taxes. Those moaning about parking fees and concession prices can have something to complain about if they had to pay sales tax on top of their purchases. No unions to deal with unloading dealer inventory. Would you want some ham fisted person handling your valuable inventory? As stated before, Chicago is within a 5 hour drive for a large portion of the U.S. population. They don't want to change flights carrying $500,000+ inventories. Las Vegas in the summertime? Really? Dallas? Are you joking? For many years the ANA sent proposals to several cities and did not get as much as a reply. Room rates, taxes and unions knock out the North East.
