For most items, the quality you can achieve with the phone's camera will satisfy most requirements. Your latest set of photos are much better. I'll also suggest that the choice of your backing will help you with your photos as well. Consider the color of your coin and then choose a backing that better suits the condition. Flat...solid colors. Take a look at these photos. The chartreuse backing played with the camera's ability to focus on the coin. The blue backing allowed the coin to pop out better. Using a color that doesn't confuse the automatic camera will do better not to confuse the viewers later.
