This morning I celebrated my 26,500th post.. In the same day now I get to celebrate my 28,500th like Thanks to @masterswimmer for that like! 48th Annual NYINC 2020New York International Numismatic Convention It's coming up. I just got my $5.00 off registration card. I will attend as I have over the past couple of years. I can't make it to the FUN Show in Florida but this show is here in my hometown! Funny thing.. When I received the card I looked at the name and it states.. Edwin Paddyman I'm trying to remember what I did or said for them to have that info.. That is not my surname! Here is the information -
If nothing else, I'll be interested in at least looking at the auctions listings. I'm close enough that I could go, most likely by AmTrak. Heck, I was born in NYC.
@paddyman98 I live in NY too. I've never gone to this show (any coin show actually). The title of the show leads me to believe the lions share of the show is foreign coins. Would that be correct? My interest is solely in US coins. Is this show worth going to?
It's a bit different from the other big shows because it's mostly Ancient and Foreign coins. I like it because I can find a few dealers with interesting mint errors or new foreign coins that have been made. Here is an example that I found at this show and sent to have it certified -
Attended at the 'Waldorf Astoria' more than a few years ago. It was 'wall to wall' with collectors, but there was not much there what I was interested in (world, ancients, and such), but the experience was lively. FUN is much more fun to me.
I'd like to go to this show someday. I'd be a lot more likely to attend if it was held somewhere besides New York City.
I just bought a train ticket and made a hotel reservation. Life constraints being in place my big day will be Friday. Traveling on Thursday and Saturday, with probably a sliver of time available for coin related things those days. @paddyman98 I also just got my card. Correct last name, but the first name is not close, nor ever applied to me with any online/offline nickname, persona, or handle. Hopefully they will honor the $5 anyway . signed, --Not Linda
