Doesnt look like PMD. Problem is on the edge of the coin at about 10:00 o clock. The indentation is beneath the lettering. Help appriciated! 20210120_232705.jpg 20210120_232714.jpg 20210120_232733.jpg

The lettering is incuse . Therefore it wouldn't necessarily make a mark across them . :lock:

Going through the MAR looks like some sort of bubble. Could be a die break.

Thanks. sounds a little better than pmd. I know it's really nothing to get excited about. I was more curious of how. Seems almost like a strike through. But underneath the lettering. Make sense? lol

Just a note, the mark on Marsh is incuse if this helps any. I believe the planchet was defective before the strike.

if the planchet was defective before the strike,
then when the strike occurs, which is many TONS of pressure, this pushes metal around ... why ... how ... would a mark be still untouched if metal is moved around?

    a planchet isn't a piece of spongecake.
    makes 'ya think ....

Looks like a die chip to me as it looks raised. The letters are included but I'm sure this is possible.

That last photo changes everything. I would say that's a defect in the planchet. Not worth a lot but nice to find.

Maybe even $2.00. I'd put it in a flip and tuck it away.
