https://www.usmint.gov/news/ccac-me...commemorative-coin-obverse-design-competition Mint just announced this today. Something must be wrong with my connection, as I can go to all the pages in the link, but the images of said coin do not appear. (edit) I see the designs now. HORRID, IMHO.
I have to agree. I looked at the designs, and... Well, they just doesn’t seem like designs that would look good on a coin.
Yikes! Out of 20 designs, you would think there would be at least one that stood out! It's tough to make those look good on a coin. There is one I like most; another 2 are ok, but the rest...sheesh!!!
This kind of stuff coming out of the United States Mint is embarrassing to me as an American!! I guess it's all about making money. Is there a Mint Chief Engraver or are CAD's Computer Aided Design doing the work? You or I could design better coins!! I hope Mint Management monitors this forum!
Another example of a modern Mint offering better suited for the Sunday comics than a coin collection.
The winning design has been announced. Another case of a common design carried across all 3 coins. All of you who had design #19 in your office pool can collect your winnings! I won't be a buyer
No danger..... ....of my money being spent on that garbage. In fact, I find the obverse to be pandering, offensive and totally ignorant when it comes to the history of the game.
I really like it. In fact, it was my favorite. Good message, good design elements, etc. I had convinced myself they wouldn't chose that one, though, because they usually opt for the simpler designs.
