Glad, and also sad, to see that everyone else is getting junk as well. Usually it's just me that gets screwed.
There must be something with the production of this coin to have the damage appear on the same areas of the coin on every single Cent that has been sent out thus far. At least from the photos people have posted. We all got the same "error". LOL
I am sure there will be a market from cent collectors who are not set collectors. Maybe the W is aliexpress for Weifang.
Since it was free from a governmental entity , and not available to the public as a monetary exchange for legal tender, is it a coin or a token?
Free or not, it's still does not excuse the poor quality of the coin. I'm sorry US Mint that doesn't give you a free pass on this one
My other 2 sets arrived today and the cents are awful, I'm sending them back.not just the cents but the rest of the proof sets. I did call the mint and you must return the cents and envelopes if you want a refund. Oh by the way I ordered a PCGS PR69 $37.00.
Received my three sets and the pennies were stained in the same area on all three coins. Put them in air tites and threw them in a box. Like someone said, “there free”.
They are free, but it's pretty disheartening that something unique like these were treated with such carelessness. I hope the other finishes have better quality control.
You've probably heard this one already by now, but just an FYI ... Mint inadvertently sells individual Proof 2019-W Lincoln cents, at face value. Here's the link to the CoinWorld article ... https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-c...ally-sells-2019-w-cents-individually.all.html
Darn, missed this opportunity! I don’t actually want the proof sets, just the cent from my alma mater.
This was addressed in another article saying it was safe. https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-coins/2019/03/packaging-safe-for-premium-2019-w-lincoln-cents.html Further down in the article, it addresses the marks on the coin. It seems it is a mint error and appears on all of the cents.
