Great to finally meet you in person @paddyman98.

That show was overwhelming for a first timer. I could have easily broke the bank.

I went light on the wallet but picked up a couple of Byzantine cup coins, Syrian serrated, and an URBS ROMA she wolf.

Looking forward to next year already.

I love getting free lit at shows.

Don't go too often. Right now I might (probably will) go to a smaller show in March. Don't know if I will be able to get much of anything. But that's ok. Maybe just looking is a better option for me at this time.

Are you going to get that slabbed? I'd probably grade it MS-64 at least.

Somebody else I know of went to that show, bought a coin "just because" - the price was right (read as inexpensive) and it was a date he didn't have. But when he got home and actually looked it over more carefully, well let's just say that it turns out to be a one of kind variety :)

And no, this was not the coin I mentioned in passing the other day - it was also a one of a kind coin. But it ended going for moon money so maybe somebody else recognized what it was, or else they were a plastic buyer (it was high grade for what it was), and still don't know what they have.

So that's 1 for sure, and maybe 2 coins, both at the same show and both one of a kind, and nobody even knew it !

Now that the auction is over, I'll link to the one I mentioned the other day, assuming anyone is interested -

The other coin that got purchased for a very reasonable price, even if it was not special, that one I'll have to leave up to the new owner to decide if he wants to post about it or not.

You know it's an international show when you see people walking around with strange foreign script on their name tags.

Just great, Central States one weekend and EAC the next.

You never know what will turn up at a show. At one of out small local shows this past Nov a guy bought a nice fake pine tree shilling for a couple bucks. It came back from the TPG as genuine and graded MS-61.

    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

I was battling a queasy gut all weekend. I arrived Friday night, got to the show about 11AM on Saturday, later then I had planned, shopped a little, and started going to talks one floor below. I was able to FINALLY get a chair at Allen Berman's table Saturday afternoon, and then again Sunday about noon. I picked up some cheaper material Saturday before opting for some nicer British and Swiss pieces on Sunday. I had to miss Berman's King Alanus I of Bermania bit on Saturday night. Even playoff football couldn't keep me awake.

    I attended four talks.

I noticed the PCGS booth was staffed by PARIS personnel, rather than California. Hmm. Lots of VERY high end VERY old gold, all over the place. Lots of thick accents. VERY nice Italian coin carrying cases outside the main bourse, and a bookseller, too.

I guess my total newp was about 10 pieces, split between U.K. and Switzerland. The nicest single piece was an 1888 over 7 shilling, in a solid AU, a grade seldom acknowledged in Europe, so it was marked XF+, a Spink number I needed for my set. Most of the other U.K. stuff I picked up were lesser items, as were some proof single Swiss pieces.

Everything I bought all weekend other than coins got me "points". Starbucks points there, beaucoup Amtrak points not just on Amtrak, but by booking my hotel through Rocketmiles, and Southwest Airlines points for eating three different places that pay points to that system.

I even got some B&H Photo shopping done, before heading home. Picked up an LED panel light instead of a flash.

For someone who was attending for the first time, I thought the signage at the hotel/conference center was terrible and had no idea that the seminars were happening a floor below the bourse.

I guess I've learned my lesson for next year but there was basically no guidance what-so-ever.

I'll blame the NYINC team and not the hotel since I've been to dozens of tech conferences at that location and the signage has been more than adequate.
