I posted the first coin sometime ago and ask was this a mint mark error. Some thought it might be displaced metal or some type of damage. Well, I came across another coin with the same error and same year minted in philadelphia 2 days ago. I also found a die marker(die chip) reverse on the duck's back/tail. Could it be a die gouge where the P mint mark is? It is a raised piece of metal.

I thought die chips are featureless blobs like on duck's back. The defect on the P is not a featureless blob and is consistent on both coins. If die face was gouged at the P, would it not appear as it does? A straight line and not a featureless blob? Just asking?

Exactly. Featureless blob with die cracks extending from it.

Both coins also has on obverse to the right of "in God we trust" a perforated rim. Is this also a die marker? 0304-22~2.jpg 0304-4~2.jpg

Die chips can be any shape and would show a consistent appearance from coin to coin

I'm leaning towards die damage/gouge but whatever the cause, it is very minor

That's cool. I agree with a die gouge.
