actually since zinc melts at low temps, you can even melt it on your gas stove top (or a bit easier with a torch), and it's perfect for making castings. So .. one can reuse the melted zincolns, to make fake castings of other *things* ...

In general destroying money is perfectly legal. You can drill a hole through a cent, beat it up with a hammer, use a vise to crush it into a little cube, dissolve it in acid, all perfectly legal. On the other hand it is illegal to MELT cents or nickel five cent pieces. And committing murder is only illegal if you get caught. Actually either one is illegal whether you get caught or not, you just don't get punished unless you get caught.
