I know of a few coins, but nothing that interests me yet. Lions club, new high relief gold liberty, etc.
I'm kinda with j on this one.... They have a good amount of stuff for 2017, but none of it really interests me. I'm not interested in the comems, have never gotten into the ATB quarters, it seems like 2017 is going to be a year for collecting older stuff.
Yea I didn't see anything either. They just put up 200 gold Mercury dimes in December but I hesitated and they all sold out too fast. You guys are looking for gold coins or do people want silver coins from the mint too???
I'll be in for the proof and uncirculated silver eagles. I'm waiting to see if they do anything for the Mints anniversary.
Don't hold me to it, but I saw elsewhere that they plan on using the high relief design (from this years gold coin) on the silver medals and making one from each mint in a different finish.
The four medal American Liberty set for the mints 225th anniversary is mildly interesting to me. Still waiting for the mint to reveal which reverse they will be utilizing on these medals as well as the high relief gold coin with the same design.
@Conder101 is correct that the mint has planned to issue a 4 medal American Liberty set with four finishes one from each branch mint for the 225th Anniversary. Although there doesn't appear to be very much excitement over it as the mints design choice has been lambasted by many collectors.
I usually buy whatever gets the most negative comments. That's worked out pretty good for me over the long run.
Yeah although I think even though many people don't like the design that's being utilized on the obverse that tons of people are going to purchase these to flip. And they may not end up being very lucrative an opportunity as a result. Unless of course the mint goes with a very limited mintage to begin with but I see them going with an extremely high mintage if there is any limit at all.
The design on the obverse certainly could be better. I'm not sure how a star headband all of a sudden says liberty but the eagle on the reverse is nice and I do like the idea behind the set. If they do a mint to demand thing though I'll just wait a year for a the price to drop like the mint to demand ASE set. That is a good point about the mintage, that could potentially kill my excitement for it.
@baseball21 The promo image the mint released looks OK Although it's the gold version and I've read the relief will be lowered for the silver versions which kind of makes me worry that they flatten it way too much. I think they were going for a look like the similar to the statue of freedom with the stars, but it seems like they are way too large proportionally to the size of overall bust on the coin. I also don't think the wings down eagle in flight look works well and hope the mint went with a better reverse selection.
I'm surprised the Product Schedule only has January releases (so far). Surely they must know release dates for everything in the 1st quarter. Why not announce 'em?
Good catch. I would have much preferred they just went with that and not cut the headdress off instead of trying to make an artistic version. The reverse may give some production trouble but I kind of like that its different then we usually see with the eagle.
As usual, I'm on subscription for the ASE proof, ASE W burnished, all three proof sets, and all five collector pucks. I'm glad the presidential dollar series has ended. I was buying 3 each of every one of those bad puppies.
