Just wanted to get input on this coin. I've noticed a few 2017 P Lincoln Cent with thicker than normal sevens. Is this a variety? Have anyone heard of this? First pic is "normal", 2nd Fat "7" Again much thanks to all Jeremiah
Reminds me of the joke.. Why was 6 afraid of 7?... Because 7 8 9 (7 ate 9) Looks to be some Die Deterioration going on around the other numbers. So it might be a result of that. How about a picture of the entire Obverse please. (Front of Cent) Looks like you took a picture of a computer screen. Can you get a shot of the actual Cent?
Here is another example from the same box. It's not as easy to see with these pictures, but it's really obvious when looking with my digital microscope.
I'm going to say Worn Die Strike. There looks to be Plating Bubbles here and there. Under the Mint Mark and to the right of the 7, which would make it look fatter. But just to make sure I will refer to @Rick Stachowski
I would go with die deterioration. The suspicious point to me is the crossbar of the 'fat' 7 near the attachment to the vertical portion, it is the same size as that of the other coin, so I believe the enlargement is from the edge of the 7 on the die of the 'fast 7' coin wearing away to produce the wider( thicker) members.
