The way I understand it, the feeder finger scrapes the anvil die (almost always the anvil die) while feeding planchets into the striking chamber. I am not sure why or how it happens though. I would think the feeder finger would have to be damaged or bent in some way. I know [USER=1859]@mikediamond[/USER] or [USER=86437]@Fred Weinberg[/USER] can give a few details when they stop by.
