    The D was actually a filled die, along with an over polishing issue.

    The weak D die pairs that show no mintmark are filled dies, but the authenticaters say Die 2 had the mintmark completely removed. I do not believe there are any coins from die pair 2 that show any trace of a mintmark. Die 2 originally had a mintmark. The heavily worn die was polished enough to completely remove the mintmark and it was then paired with a new sharp rev die, creating the No D Die pair 2.
