Any known errors in the 2016 D Mint Pennys. If so what are they so I can be looking for them in my uncirculated rolls.
In the entire history of the United States Mint from the 1790s to now there has never been a penny. It was always a cent. Penny is derived from pence, which is British currency. The Brits made a penny, we never did.
And walk into a coin store and ask about "pennies" you are telegraphing that you are a novice ripe for the plucking to an unethical seller.
Not as far as I know, but errors really aren't my thing unless they're obvious. Speaking of pennies, I have about $10 worth I need to re-roll...
They aren't actually getting on your grammar, nor your spelling. They're getting on you because you're using the same word that the banks and rolling companies use, rather than the "proper" word.
Im like you, I typically only look for the known errors. But you know what? Of all the errors I've found, none are in my book of known errors! So I am trying to train myself to generally look over a coin without scrutinizing every one. However, I usually get in a mode and forget the details. Good luck.
The only sheild cent Denver doubled die known is a 2010-D. I see quite a few 2016-D's in Loomis rolls now, and I have a box of 2016-D's I got from my bank. I only looked at 3 rolls of the 2016D from the box but have not seen any errors.
I blame the banks, rolling companies, the mint, etc. as THOSE are the people the "mean" people should be directing their anger at, and not the posters here. To me, it's really much ado about nothing. I have no problem with people using them (cent and penny) interchangeably as long as the banks, rolling companies, etc. are going to keep calling them "pennies."
