I did a comparison Dan Carr's & the US Mint Quarter.
My photo of my quarter, Mint's photo of the gold so maybe the Mint did a better job on this 1915D Standing Liberty Silver Quarter a-horz.jpg

I think its a pathetic concept myself. All the mint can come up with for interesting products their customer may want to buy is rehashing 100 year old designs again and again? Remember, the mint was VERY against most of these designs 100+ years ago, fighting TR to get fresh, new designs on our coins.

As a nation, you would think there is a plethora of great artistic minds. How they never make it to the mint is beyond me. That $100 high relief coin was a pretty atrocious design. I guess that is what you get with art by committee.

I am one of those who think the project was blown up one side and down the other when silver versions were not authorized. I think silvers would have been one hot item.

That was 100 years ago. All of these designs became iconic. I agree with you on the current lack of artistry at the Mint now. For reference, just look at some of the dreck of recent years.

Isn't the mints just a computer generated rendering not an actual photo of a finished one? They seem to have done a little better based on the rendering but the heads still missing some detail

IIRC, Medora, it was not the Mint as an establishment, but the Mint's Chief Engraver, Charles Barber that was resistant to the change in the coinage.

The designs, after all, were meant to replace his designs on the dime, quarter, and half dollar coins.

Yeah, Charley and 'change' didn't mesh very well. Although, I must say, he did a lovely job with the Pan-Pac half dollar............

Well after looking at the Mercury Dime at the show last Sunday, I'm glad I didn't buy it ,and will pass also on the rest. I do agree with Santinidollar that they should of been offered in silver as well.
I also wonder when the US mint is going to produce a product as good as other world mints.

I like these gold quarters and will be buying 2 to go with the 2 gold dimes I've got and the 2 gold halves I'll get when they come out. Good luck to all ordering today.

Is it just me or does Liberty's face appear happier in the original?

So does anyone know if DCarr is planning these classic coins in a 2016 date for us?

The regular 'missing' dates to complete the set are nice and all, and since all of these have real 1916 dates, id like to see a 'commemorative' silver, and the 100yr anniversary date seems fitting.

  17. Liberty's face should be happy in this one. She is in solid gold.

I lost interest in these soon after release...probably go for near spot after awhile. Carr,s set is much more collectable for me.
