Not sure if this is a die break or just a CUD--as I found OVER a full roll of this error within 10 shotgun rolls. The error is in the rock ledge. Actually, it looks like a camel's mouth with a cold sore, lol! If this is a simple cud, it can't be work more than a few cents over face--as I found so many of them. Thank you.
Keep your eye out for the chip in the Eagles wing sometimes you'll find some with some good size for this coin have put back over 1000 of them in circulation. \V/
My understanding is that a die chip encompasses an area of less than 1 square millimeter of total area, whereas a die break involves a total area of greater than 4 square millimeters. This may help: http://www.error-ref.com/freestanding-interior-internal-die-breaks/
I have come across several are those, I have a nice one listed with the chips and die brakes on my error coin thread Shawnee. I have a tendency to keep the threesomes.
So a cud starts a the rim? Always? And if its in the field, (not touching the rim at all) its a die chip?
I dont know much about coins but I got a 2016 shawnee illinois quarter today that the rim is raised well above the surface of the coin on both sides and looking at the outer edge looks like half way through is copper any ideas?
