For the moment, I'm trying to figure out what you have going on in the inside of the L. Maybe just an optical delusion...or? Here are some quick pics from my shoebox set up. Typical shoebox with a light at one end, felt like material as a diffuser, a couple pill bottles with quarters for weight/distance, an old piece of glass from a broken picture frame, some black backing, and a few small foam disks to raise the coin. The camera is an old iPhone 5 set on top of an old can that has the approximate focal distance that is optimal for the camera phone. That's filled with quarters for weight to hold the phone against while taking pictures. Also, I use a 3 second count down to steady the phone when it takes the picture. I crop on the phone...export to my computer when I do a final crop/sharpen. If I need more magnification, I snap a picture with my phone through one ocular of my AmScope.
