2016 Lincoln cent - “United States” font

    Font looks a little different on “United States”.
    Any ideas what this could be? No luck searching for anything similar

    Yeah, it does. The bottom of the letters look sort of 'wing-tipped' or something. It may be post mint damage. But I can't imagine what might have hit it or caused that regular appearing damage like that...if it IS damage.

    It's zinc. Liable to disintegrate before it would ever become worth anything, even if it were an error.

    What he is seeing is bifurcated lettering, result of incomplete filling of the letters. If the strike ends before the letters fill completely you will see those curved bases at the bottom of the uprights of the letters. It's just a result of striking not a change in the font.
