Trying to figure out if this is Pmd or something else. It actually weighs a point or two over the others.
I figured that or maybe someone tried to melt it thinking it was in some way valuable but the feel of it definitely sand blasted. Its too even to have been dug or exposed to elements. Thanks guys.
It came in a newish roll from the bank that had like 10 consecutive Harper's quarters. I know that doesn't mean anything but I thought I had clad error at first.
I can see why you would think that, but the pressure during striking causes a lot of metal flow and would have obliterated most of the marks on the planchet. Plus, the reeding would be sharp.
I have a Harpers Ferry 25c D, in very good shape, but is Bronze in color. Is it possible it may be an experimental from the Denver Mint? It weighs about .02 more than other circulated coins. I am working on getting a good/accurate picture. For now, a little info would help. Thank you
First, welcome to the neighborhood, Michelle! It's best if you start your own thread and include photos of your coin. ~ Chris
