Hey everyone. This penny looks like the imprint on the front was stamped twice and the incorrect stamp to the right is reversed where the face is facing the left face (like they are kissing). Have you seen this happen on a 2016 penny? If so, WIW?
This is environmental damage/toning. Coins are struck, not stamped. Here is a link to the minting process. http://doubleddie.com/58201.html This will help.
It is not a "doubled" "die". It was not "minted" incorrectly. What you are seeing in the "kissing" side is what is known as paredolia. Your coin has come into contact with something in its life that toned it that way.
This is a double dye This is a Doubled Die A Doubled die is not a coin that was struck twice but only once was a Die that was doubled https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doubled_die
