Looks like it, the same appearance as those that were all over the MOD sets. I don't know what kind of cheap wire brushes the mint is using on the dies that fall apart. But these type of marks I'd say are common at this point because they're present on so many coins. Unless the wire is retained I wouldn't expect any interest or premium for these. In fact I'd send them back and try to get other sets because all they do is detract from the coins eye appeal and encourages the mint to continue with poor quality control in my opinion.
@charlietig ........They folded the note in one of my sets too. How ridiculous is that? The coins, however are beautiful. I'll get some pics up later. Sorry about those marks @jwitten .
Yeah, that stinks. Give customer service a call before you send the set back.......tell them of the error and they might credit you the shipping. Worth a shot.
From the numbers I've seen posted, my first three are fairly low. I ordered 2 more the next day, haven't got them yet. Will be interesting to see those numbers. Gonna try to swap a couple on the 2014 set that I missed out on.
Anybody try to get the coins out of the capsules? It's danged near impossible to do so without damaging them........
Absolutely. When my Kennedy gold halves were all flawed, they told me to send a copy of my return-shipping receipt under separate cover, and they'd reimburse me for the return shipping and insurance. Since insured shipping for that value was quite expensive, I was glad to hear it. If you call Customer Service, they'll be able to tell you where to send the request for reimbursement.
A Reverse Proof has only two surfaces (Mirror like Devices, Frosted Field) while the Enhanced Uncirculated has three (mirror like, frosted, and laser etched.) Take note of Sacagawea's garment and the apparent "stripes". Had this been a Reverse Proof, nothing on Sacagawea would have any distinction.
Got my 5 today. Nothing special about the bills. However, all the coins were great, no 70s but superb 69s. All 5 were a single frost break away from being a 70.
One of those that I received had the same problem, but was even farther out of the protective sleeve. The others were perfect. By the way, are theses coins available in the A & B edge configuration, or are they minted by a different process because they are struck at the mint at West Point?
Got my 4 today...pretty happy, they look nice...need to take a closer look though. Only saw some particles on the outside of the packaging. Freaked myself out though...picked up an empty sleeve thinking they forgot to send me one set...then realized I had the set in my grubby fingers...
