Just saw an advertisement for govmint.com where they offer to sell the 2015 US Eagle silver dollars in uncirculated condition for an "introductory" price of $18.95 each (limit 10). The ad indirectly mentions that there will be "s/h", but doesnt say how much it will be. The advertisement also says that if you call (and agree to pay) "your reservation and price will be locked in, and your stunning new Silver Dollars will be shipped to you just as soon as the U.S. Mint releases the coins in January."
My question is, what is the catch? The U.S. mint prices for these coins is bound to be in the $40-$50 range (thats what the mint charges for the 2014 coins). Even capped at 10 coins per purchaser, how can govmint.com afford this? Is it a scam? I dont see how they can make up the margin just by charging an inflated shipping and handling fee. Interested in your thoughts; Thanks.

The $40-$50 range is for uncirculated "burnished" eagles. You can't buy regular bullion eagles from the mint.

S/H fees are probably pretty high. Also, some of these companies will continue to market future products to you.

Plus they said 10 @ $18.95 + s/h the processing fee or handing fee could be like $3 each or more..... they got their margins covered. When it seems to good to be true 9 out of 10 times it's not!

2015 prices are $48.95 for burnished, $52.95 for proof.

But the price of the bullion coins to Govmint (Which is what they are offering) is spot +$2. Right now that would be $17.76 so they are making about $1.25 per coin plus probably something off of the postage as well. And they are getting your info for their mailing list, which they will use and probably also sell to others.
