I think Dangerfield is somewhat under-appreciated (compared to, say, a Lenny Bruce or a George Carlin, etc.). Rodney basically invented an entire sub-genre of comedy.

 

Dangerfield was class. The other two guys talked dirt.......

Any comedian that has to use profanity to generate laughs is unworthy.......except for perhaps, Lewis Black.

Lewis Black is so funny we have seen him several times live. He's also from Silver Springs Md.

 

Dangerfield was the class clown, George Carlin told the truth in a way that was funny and I never listen to much Lenny Bruce.
