Color of the surfaces is still off in your photos, but although the 'pattern' is a bit different, I believe, from what I can see, that it is die damage from an over-extended Feeder Finger. It appears to continue to the right side of the 'bird' (whatever kind of bird it is!), under the neck. I wouldn't consider it die deterioration, as the rest of the design elements look pretty sharp, not 'blurry' as in most Quarter examples of DD.
I will get you more clear images when I get home,I pulled those images from my phone. So what exactly do we call this,OEFFD? Lol. Very interesting stuff,I havent heard of this before,i will def read up on it. Im noticing the pattern seems to mimic the original design in many ways, not sure if that indicates anything, just observating. @Fred Weinberg
Thanks for the additional photos. Based on what I see, I believe they are struck from dies that were damaged from over-extended feeder fingers. It's happened on numerous State quarters before - and we've seen this effect on other denominations, like cents and dimes too.
@Fred Weinberg thank you for your opinion, great information. I'd be happy to send you one if you want one to examine or for reference.
Thanks for the offer, but I have other State Quarters with FF marks, so I don't need another one! I do appreciate your kind consideration.....
