Well. It is been trading $80's a lot. But the average is slowly came down. We shall see average at $80's soon. it might break the $80's. But I think the price should stick around $80's for a while. And it can not move higher due to the chronicles set with lowest reverse proof starting to offer from June 30 till next year. Hasta la vista March of dime set. 75,000 mintage is really a lot. Even 50,000 too. Check next time around 15,000 to 20,000 mintage. Lowest reverse proof is below 10,000. A gold reverse proof coin.
Lets see I bought 4 sets 1 with 1 set and 1 with 3 sets. I was going to keep the 1 of 1 open it up looked at it and sold it. I also sold the unopened box of 3. I made a little money and have no regrets selling them.
I wish I would've ordered a set from the mint. I'll be buying one on the secondary market now. Most likely ebay unless somebody here has a smoking deal on one. I think this is a neat set. Not interested in flipping.
Watching HSN Coin Collector show taped from Saturday AM, they had about 100 FDOI ANACS 70 sets for sale @ $369.95 and pretty much sold them out during the hour. Interesting because they only lifted the limit on Tuesday for delivery in August, hmmmm. Special treatment for one of the US Mint's best customer? Anyway, these 100 or so sets were part of a limited edition of 989 total in 70 condition. The rest are supposed to be up for sale next Saturday evening airing. Mezak mentioned that 70's were rare and did question the Mint's QA processes multiple times. So to get 1000 sets that grade at 70, HSN would have to have bought close to 5000-8000 sets?
He's mentioned before that they do get special treatment from the mint, and the 4 major grading companies due to the amount they purchase, witch then gets graded. The American Way.... "money talks", I think so.
