My second coin has what you might want to call "finning" but its fairly minor. I expect that this anomaly is due to the fact that these medals don't have any reeding which is kinda weird. By that I mean, when I took it out of the air tight, I felt hesitant to actually touch that smooth edge. Maybe a picture or two is needed?
The pictures aren't too revealing. Looks l=-more like a minor misalignment than anything else but it occurs in the same location on both sides.
I purchased 2 sets and sold them within hours of recieving them...I never opened them but after seeing photos of the medal I will be looking for one.
My son and I both are all in, he got his 2 and mine didn't go through, after 15 minutes it was all over
Check out post at 8/18 6:16pm by Alfred E. Numismatic (best pics I have seen of the finning error so far): http://mintnewsblog.com/2015/08/2015-american-1-coin-and-currency-set-details/#comments
Well, I stared and stared, but I still have no idea what those shots are supposed to show. Sure wish he could get shots that are (a) closer and in focus, (b) straight on to either the face or the edge, and/or (c) annotated with something pointing to the supposed defect...
Came home yesterday and mine were delivered the only issue was someone in the house thought it was a package for them and opened them. Oh well
Went to the mailbox today and there were no coins. Because the Mint website blew up when I tried to order that fateful morning. Still unhappy about it. Rob
My order for 2 was "lost during shipping" according to Fedex SmartPost. So the mintage is 16998 now? Oh wait, lost isn't the right word. Stolen. That's it. So the mintage is still 17K. (all applicable emojis were used and not harmed in the making of this post) edit - Keeping a vigilant eye on ebay auctions to see if someone is stupid enough to leave my tracking number visible when they try to unload these.
