Took me 5 seconds this morning to add to bag and checkout. No success. Became unavailable. Don't even waste your time trying.
I'm much more relaxed about this order now that I have received shipment tracking. These sets have been steadily declining towards the $200 level all day today on the Buy-It-Nows, so if you missed out and are waiting to buy, it might be savvy to hold out a little if you can.
If you can wait 6-12 months these will probably sell closer to $100 per set. One thing about moderns is that once the next new hot item arrives, the prior ones often lose their appeal. Next year everyone will be in a frenzy about the 1916 remakes, and the C&C sets will be yesterday's news.
Mine is out for delivery by 10:30 am it says on tracking. I paid the extra for 1 day shipping, unfortunately I won't be able to see how they look I sold them & the buyer wants the box sealed from the mint, why does he want it sealed?
So he can send it into one of the third party graders to get a 'early release' label on the holder. [edit to add] The third party services require a mint sealed box in order to render such an designation......
NGC 2015 Dwight D. Eisenhower Coin and Chronicles Set Pedigree Posted on 8/6/2015 Requirements for Early Releases http://www.ngccoin.com/news/viewarticle.aspx?IDArticle=4780&
The dollar and medal in this set may be submitted to NGC for the "COIN AND CHRONICLES SET" pedigree. In addition, both the dollar and medal will be eligible for Early Releases or First Releases if received by NGC within 30 days of its release. Check the NGC website for Early Releases/First Releases cut off dates. Submission Instructions: The coin and medal should be submitted in capsules only. Do not send the stamp or other mint packaging. Select the Modern tier or higher and select Special Label / Designation and check either Early Releases or First Releases. The 5-coin minimum requirement is waived. The default label for both the dollar and medal will be NGC's Presidential label.
The Truman sets still sell for $200 or so in OGP. And much like occurred with that set after release the Ike one is following a similar pattern. Which is the price dropping a little due to the large number of flippers liquidating all at once before it began climbing back up towards the $200 or so level again. Where it's remained for a few weeks now seemingly pretty steady. Might be wise to buy them in the dip under $200 for Ike if one doesn't want to wait them out long term. As the flipper supply dries up the Eisenhower set might actually be more lucrative because of the two household limit and the fact that the mints now confirmed Truman and Ike are both essentially going to be keys. Not sure how wide spread the information that the LBJ set has been confirmed for a higher mintage now has become yet either.
I think people might be seeing the Truman Set as the keeper since it was the first and compounding that fact is the Ike is being flipped more?? Or perhaps stronger hands have the Trumans. I'm basing a lot of this on the fact that I haven't one taker for a straight up trade. Another thing to consider, having a 5 HH Limit on the Truman gives those stronger hands, if truly strong, more control of the supply. Anyways, it would seem though that 17K is 17K but maybe that's not always the case. An aside, maybe when people start seeing them IRL more will shake out. That and when Ebay is finally purged off the flipper inventory.
Yeah, kinda crazy - looks like more flippers got the Ikes, even though 2 limit. Less than 100 Trumans and almost 400 Ikes on eBay. Granted the Ike is new, but I don't think Truman ever had over 200 ads.
I don't think so. The mintage is lower than any coin in several years. Look at the 1995 eagle set. Still way up there.
@miedbe7, I also think a lot of the Truman sets have already been flipped and many sent in for grading. I think I seen another post that stated roughly almost 25% of all Truman mintage had been graded by both PCGS and NGC combined. Plus it is over a month since release so anyone still holding Truman sets is likely in it long term, and the others likely long ago flipped them. I'm sure the profitability of the Truman set led to many more people trying to get in on buying Ike sets also which led to the ordering fiasco.
