For those who have received these, how is the quality of the RP? I noticed many of the MoD RP's have very small to large spots, how about the Truman?
There are some pics from a Coin World article: http://www.coinworld.com/news/here-s-what-the-reverse-proof-truman-dollar-looks-like--coin-wor.html# Nice tan! LOL
"available in this set only" could very well mean that it will never be offered as an individual item since the words "will never be offered again" are missing. It's an implied assumption such as the 2006-W Burnished Silver Eagle originally offered in the 20th Anniversary Set yet later offered as an individual piece and then a regular single coin offering. I will say that it will be unique to the set when 2015 is over. But with wording which describes the set says: Item Number: AX1 Mintage Limit: None Product Limit: 17,000 Household Order Limit: 5 as in: As I stated, it could certainly happen if you understand what has happened in the past.
What? Yes, in the past, the mint has left one to imply what their ads mean, but not this one, except for leaving mintage open, but that is covered by the following. Available in this set only, means exactly that. It will not be offered individually or in any other set - IN THIS SET ONLY. Product limit: 17,000 means 17,000 of this set will be produced. Nothing is implied.
These must have been from orders cancelled by the US Mint for ordering violations or credit card problems. No one in their right mind would have cancelled an existing order. TC
Interestingly, if you read this Coin World article closely it says 16,780 were sold in less than 15 minutes, so it is possible that the remaining 220 were sold this morning. http://www.coinworld.com/news/truman-coin-and-chronicles-set-sells-out-in-15-minutes.html TC
I just checked completed sales and the NGC presales for RP69s are going for $189. With 69s bringing $190 I expect to see prices soar on sealed sets of 5. I just yanked mine off Ebay, I think I'm holding for now. btw, not a fan of moderns but I do like this set. I like the medal and the RP ain't half bad.
I like that strategy. If the mint increases mintages and/or lowers household limits on the remaining C&C sets, the Truman set prices will likely increase. I can see demand for these increasing if people start chasing 70s too. Look out if a missing edge lettering variety is found. I would not be a seller right now. TC
