I agree that these low mintage RPs might spark interest in the series. They will be the obvious keys.
I hope that they spark interest in the series. Pristine golden colored examples may be harder to find in the future than people might think and therefore command a nice premium like Red Indian Head Cents
It should be interesting if I receive the one set I ordered. It was close to 12:10 pm ET and my order had to be input four times until it finally was completed. I will most likely wind up with a double roll set of S-mintmarked Blue Ridge Parkway quarters in my frenzie to push "enter." Oh well. What may also happen is there could be an increase in the mintage of future reverse proof dollars in these Chronicles sets. President Eisenhower and Johnson are scheduled for the same 17,000-piece mintage. It would not be surprising to see the mintages of these two dollars get increased to the 25,000 level promised for President Kennedy.
They definitely need to do something about the next issues. Or maybe not, we all told them they WAY misjudged this one before it was released. It would be nice though, if they were available for a day or at least a few hours, so those who wanted some had a chance to order them.
I wouldn't be surprised if the mint issues a set containing all four of these RP dollars together later on. Unlike other offerings they don't include a mintage limit only a product limit. And although I'd like to be optimistic and say that's only because they include the RP in the with the regular mintage numbers. I do however think it's at least possible they will mint more in another product offering seeing how fast these sold out. So while the coins may only be available now via the 17,000 in this product based on there being no stated maximum mintage numbers it's entirely possible they will release more via another product imo.
Yep, once these have been touched, they turn a horrible brown, even one touch leaves a brown finger print, like a Lincoln Cent. Of course only the early years had a chance to circulate, yet rarely did, so a high percentage, at this point, are pristine. Any brown or finger printed business strike is worth what's printed on the coin, $1.
Yeah, I noticed that on the order page. However, the news articles to date state that the mint said they'd be available only in these sets - I'd have to look for the actual mint press releases. So, I don't know, they pulled that with the 2012-s ASE proof, collectors screamed, and the mint apologized.
Not going to happen. Here's the mint press release. 2015 Coin and Chronicles Set – Harry S. Truman Available on June 30 WASHINGTON - The United States Mint will open sales for the 2015 Coin and Chronicles Set - Harry S. Truman (product code AX1) starting on June 30 at noon Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). The set contains the following: One 2015 Harry S. Truman Presidential $1 Reverse Proof Coin--available in this set only One 1.598" Harry S. Truman Presidential .999 silver medal One 1973 U.S. eight cent Harry S. Truman postage stamp http://www.usmint.gov/pressroom/?action=press_release&id=1697
I think your logic is a little flawed since, typically, when a series ends at the US Mint, it also ends with the collectors. Can you say "State Quarters at Face Value"? As for creating an interest in the Presidential Dollars? The interest will be in the reverse proofs. Nothing else. But that's just my opinion unless you can show me some 1999 Silver State Quarter Proofs sets which have sold for more than $250 each recently.
Wheatmaster101 said: They already made more sets this morning. Sold out in 21 minutes. I thought those might just be existing orders with rejected credit cards.
It's certainly possible as it wouldn't be the first time the US Mint has some rather expensive packaging.
I guess you have to be at the right place at the right time I guess I'll just go to the mint website & keep refreshing until they have more
