2015 chronicles sets with reverse proof coin.

  1. I paged down too far in the search and saw this one from about a week and a half ago, which of course is not recent

Good point about the blemished sets. Guess they would sell for less. The point remains though that these hit highs into the $200s and are now selling below. We'll see what happens once the Ike sets are released.

Average price up for chronicle sets

    Truman $203.50
    Eisenhower $199.75

My guess for Kennedy set will be $250.00.

I think the Kennedy will go much higher even with the additional 8000 because he was such a beloved president

    And from the above link
    http://www.coinnews.net/2015/07/29/2015-jfk-coin-chronicles-set-limited-to-50000/

'New details have emerged for the 2015 John F. Kennedy Coin & Chronicles Set. The United States Mint on Tuesday sent media outlets a product description of the set which also revealed an increased limit to 50,000 units from the previously announced level of 25,000 units.'

So the Kennedy will have a total of 50,000 for a max mintage, not 25,000.

It seems the mint has caught on to the fact that collectors like reverse proofs. We will probably see them in every major set now, until they loose their appeal. Then they will go to concave or convex coins and then colorized. How about some great high quality engravings instead? Too bad the BEP doesn't oversee the mint. It's like the same old tune played in a different key.

Upon closer inspection tonight, I found that one of my Truman $1s has a "struck through" error on his cheek.

Anyone know if Truman was a 'Colts' fan?

Some guy on ebay claims to have a triple die truman $1 I don't see it. He says he's going to send it in for certification. We shall see.

Weekly average from eBay still shown strong on chronicle set,

    Truman - $205.21 mintage 16,833
    Eisenhower - $216.89
    Theodore - $164.88 mintage 15,145

I guess Kennedy set will not sell out. 50,000 is too much. Maybe stay same level with Lincoln chronicle set at 29,919 set.

I finally took a good look at my Truman reverse proof. It's struck decidedly off-center (perhaps 1-2mm). I know next to nothing about error coins. Is this error additive or destructive to value?

The Kennedy will definitely sell out but will take a couple days to do so.
