Yikes, lots of uptight people. You bought bullion coins... this does not hurt the value. You asked for opinions... try not to let those opinions hurt your feelings. It is common for people to warn non coin people about making expensive coin purchases before they learn what they are doing.

Just wanted to post an update before I go away. After communicating further with both JM and the US Mint, apparently it's pretty common for the US Mint to produce some pretty poor quality coins. If you want non-blemished coins, use another mint or pay the US Mint even more of a premium. Sounds like many of you knew this already... I obviously did not.

Thanks again to those who provided constructive responses...

I think what you don't understand is that to 99% of the people who buy these bullion coins, all they are is hunks of gold. In other words no different than 1 oz gold bars. And yes, the mint produces them that way. No care is taken since as far as the mint is concerned they are just hunks of gold.

That said, they do produce some collector's issues of these coins which usually, but not always, are a bit nicer than the ordinary business strikes that you bought. The mint sells them, here is a link - http://catalog.usmint.gov/american-...ld-uncirculated-coin-PM7.html?cgid=gold-coins

Now if you'll notice that coin has a W mint mark, I'll bet your coins do not. And that coin sold by the mint is also a good deal more expensive - $1475 to be exact. While the coins you bought, JM is selling them for $1247 - http://www.jmbullion.com/2015-1-oz-american-gold-eagle/

    Understand the difference now ?

I've purchased from JM Bullion before (silver only) and not had a problem. I'm a little surprised at their position on this coin.

    Some advice:
    1) Why not order it directly from the U.S. Mint?
    2) What do you want from this bullion piece? If you only want some gold, than I wouldn't worry about it.
    3) If your OCD is taking over, than it's too late, welcome to the world of coins!!! LOL.
    4) You may want to contact Numismatic News directly or Coin World directly to see what they have to say about this bullion piece.

I don't collect gold bullion, but I do get some weekly coin magazines and have not heard any mention of the problem you're experiencing.
