    Hi guys,

I have this 2014 Roosevelt Dime and would like to know what is happening with the metal on the reverse near the rim. The composition looks gritty and dark in some places along the outer edge of the coin near the rim.

Is this due to a worn die or something else? I normally see a worn die with die flow lines not all gritty like this.

Danomite What do you say uh-huh

Yes, that’s a worn die issue. It’s fairly common on clad coins.

It's normal toning around the die deterioration issue.
