Well looks like the mint will give the public a good or better chance on buying the coin. But ya know that Coin Vault MCM etc will pay folks to buy for them. So hit the line first
Talked to NGC at the FUN show in Orlando yesterday. It will cost $100 per coin for grading and special label on the gold Kennedy's. If you get the clad halves before the show they WILL NOT give them the special label. They have to be bought from the mint at the show and provide the receipt to prove it. Didn't ask how much that grading will cost for the halves.
WOW! Talk about a money grab. I guess they got wise and decided that they want a piece of the aftermarket, too.
Not really, in order to get the special label you will basically be doing a same day grading and that is $100 I believe. (Unless the meant and EXTRA $100 to get the special label on top of the same day grading fee.)
As I understood it, it was 100 for the works. That's still a pretty stiff price. As an aside, I saw HOF gold ungraded for around $665 and silver for $85 at FUN show.
If true that means only 250 people will have the opportunity to buy one. From reading this and other forums it seems there will be a lot more people looking to get in on the action than there were at the HOF release at Baltimore. I read, don't know how true it is, that there are dealers hiring busloads of people to stand in line for them. It could very easily happen that there will be many, many more people than available coins. Given the nature of some humans when there's profits to be made and there's a chance they'll get shut out after they've made an investment in travel expenses, I would not be surprised that we'll see incidences similiar to some you hear about on Black Friday. It will be interesting to sit back and watch.
I agree DT, if the Mint does 500 @ 2 per customer more than half the people will be left out. BTW, a wink here and a wink there between the dealers and the Mint reps and no telling what will happen.
Yes we do but you know all so called mints will be making up the own. Out Bu mint rolls of clad half dollars . Just make sure your not fooled by coins done like this but.
This is going to be bedlam! It's true, if people get trampled and stabbed on Black Friday trying to save $50 on a TV from Walmart.....wow. Who's making the popcorn?
I will order whatever US mint will allow me to order. I am not one who has to have first strike noted on anything I will sent to a Tpg . First strike is just a label but I will ask for the 50th Av label if have to. I have no plans of going to a show this year.
