Interesting. Maybe some kind of planchet defect? Lamination issue on the clad. You can see the copper core underneath.

  4. Thanks, I'm not sure of anything, as you know and I appreciate your input. Has anyone seen anything like this

  5. Would this be considered a defective planchet? Just how would this happen? Mint Error? Anyone?

I am wondering if it is slag or some kind of corrosion. I see the reddish in color edges. I am not sure what has happened with this one.

    Agree.
Also, can we see some better Pics? Maybe give it an "Acetone bath" to clean it up some??

  10. More photos. Field behind LIBERTY has a seemingly frosted, raised appearance. Is there a name for this and is it legitimate mint error?

  11. Does anyone know what this would be called, Mint Error?

  12. OK, where can I go to find out what this is called?

To me it looks to be a lamination error.
