2014 d great sand dunes skipping rocks

    this coin has 3 lamination errors on it that looks like the kid is skipping rocks wondering if I am right on the lamination call ?they are small pits in the coin really don't think this is post mint damage its kinda neat

    The 'pits' you're showing in the photos
    are contact marks from another coin -
    aka 'bag marks' from it being mixed
    in a large bag of newly minted coins.

    thank you they looked like lamination errors hardly any other marks on the coin the pits are deeper than they appear in the pictures hard for us new old guys to tell the difference tks for your help

    if you put the edge of another quarter up to those marks you'll see how they would "fit" into them.

    all the quarters at the end of the minting process just fall into a gigantic tote that can handle thousands of pounds of quarters in them. They just fall onto each other, and hit and scrap up against each other. Remember, these are made for circulation so who cares how banged up they get before distribution and then further circulation damage. Proof coins are handled singularly for quality.
