My thoughts: Great Smokey Mountains: I'm partial to number 1 and number 4. The recommended design doesn't do anything for me. Shenandoah: The recommended design is good, but I like number 2, as well. I guess I don't really like the hiker. Arches: Number 7. Period. Great Sand Dunes: I really like number 5. Everglades: I really like the recommended design. I think a gator should be added in somehow, but I don't like the design with the two gators; it see,s too plain to me.
I don't like the everglades, but I love the Great Smokey Mountains. That one is nice. And I oppose the opinion of Trehugger. The Golden Arches quarter would sell in a heartbeat. Then skip and then beat repeatedly and stop.
As a sworn enemy of the McDonald's nation..............I'm lovin' it I like their new campaign a lot better though
The problem that I have with UT-07 (or perhaps it's the attraction) is that viewpoint is one that most people will never see. In order to see the arch from the other side you either have to hike off the trail, or you have to use a very long zoom lens from the Delicate Arch Viewpoint tail that ends up overlooking the canyon beyond the arch. UT-02 is the "classic" pose for the Delicate Arch, and is the one Utah used on their license plates for a while. But I do like #7, as I have taken one of my favorite pictures of all time there. UT-01 is showing the Double-O Arch, which is also on the home page for Arches National Park. UT-03 and UT-05 show the skyline arch. UT-06 shows the Turret Arch, from the North Windows Area. Arches is one of my favorites spots in the entire country, can you tell? For my money (ha, literally) all of the picture options present a "legible landscape feature at the scale of a coin." I think they're just trying to pick something other than the Delicate Arch, perhaps because it's been "done before" and often. But in my opinion, there are two arches that are closely identified with the park, and Delicate Arch is by far the most overwhelming choice. I hope they don't go with UT-01 as suggested. Just noticed that UT-07 shows a person in the image, which gives a sense of scale for the arch. That's very cool.
Of course. Just like the 50 States quarters. I bet they'll be colorized and on those dumb HSN shows a month after they are released for sale.
