But that is one million sets in collector hands mainly. A dealer, if he wanted to run a promotion, might be able to scrounge up a few hundred sets. Put 100,000 sets in one dealer's hands, he can DESTROY the market for them repeated at any moment.

Sure, if you like the coins for your collection, buy them. I never am against a person wishing to collect any coin they like. I would be very fearful, though, of any hopes of flipping this set if this dealer truly bought 100,000 units.

    Check your math, guys...

    100,000 sets @ $139.99 ea = $13,990,000

    Tax???
Shipping? Does he really get flat rate shipping of $4 for that many sets??? WOW!

Ah, the old, “I know a guy, who knows a guy …..” You can only believe 10% of what a coin dealer tells you. So, 10% of 100k = 10K sets, well even that’s a stretch. I’d be cautious of what this dealer tells you and maybe look for another dealer.

So, what do you all think will be the final mintage of this set. I’ve been wrong before, but since this is the first year for a new variety, I think it could go high, maybe 500k or more.

Yeah, my dealer knows another guy who's buying 100,000 also.

Changed my mind, I'm in for a set.

PCGS and NGC are going to be busy in a couple of weeks.

No tax. When buying directly from the mint, no state can tax these.
    Yes, flat rate, $4.95 shipping.

I was just passing along something that I was told, that's all. Doesn't matter to me one way or the other. I don't have any reason to doubt what I was told. In either case, folks will get them or they won't. I'm still getting mine.

[edit] I'm also a new collector, strictly ASE's. I don't know if a 100K purchase is typical or not. I suppose it could be if it's a company. [/edit]

Would that be Juans Coin Shop?

Could be $100,000 IN sets, making it 667 sets approx. That would be more understandable.

Decisions, decisions. I am having a kid this year, so deciding if I should get this.

I was just about to add this. Perhaps he explained his purchase incorrectly...

There's also the bulk purchase program, right? They get something like a 5% discount off the retail price but pay the actual shipping.

If it's a dealer, I assume they can get all their non Mint purchases free of sales tax also as long as it's for resale.

I'm catch on the hype and want this set lol. I do have a question though. I saw that the mintage on this is unlimited and as such do people think picking up an extra to resell for a profit is wise? I usually don't do such a thing but if I can do it easily it'd be nice. Secondly I read on coin week that even though unlimited the mintage will only last for four weeks, will this factor into figures/resell? I'm definitely picking up one, I just need to know if a second is wise?

Bulk purchase program does not apply to these, or so I've been told.

Same dealer told me he was planning on buying 2,000 sets.

What do you guys think will be the final mintage? I'm thinking that the number will be between 200 and 300,000. I'm hoping lower but I really doubt it.
