Well whatta ya know........ I never thought they would do it.

 

its not to late i am hoping for 99.99 let the silver drop a little more

the $10 is a slap on the face of the paying public i hope they give it back with interest to the mint.

I'm shocked they lowered the price. Nice beginning - let's hope it moves more in that way.

 

I hope by the time the set goes on sale the price is reduced a little more!! That being said I still am planning to get the set for my collection!!!

 

Goverment branchs are not supose to make money as any branch of goverment sole purpose is to protect and serve.
Why dosent it anger some that everything the mint uses in the production of coins is charged to the taxpayers as we pay all goverment bills.
Our goverment will never allow you or i to produce coins that can be used in everyday life.
Why should we allow our goverment to mint silver coins that are worth less in face value than the silver content its made from.They chop marked trade dollars to rid them of the silver because of the coins worth.
To hail these coins as a victory for coin collectors is another takeing away of the rights our constitution.
Be sure you know what you are wishing for as this buying of coins from a goverment owned workplace is a tax that our congress has no way to aprove.You are willfully sending in money that dosent have a given place in the goverment to be spent AND AS FAR AS I KNOW THEY ARE NOT TELLING.

 

Love the reduction. Hope silver drops more and they drop the price some more. On he flip side hope the price of silver doesn't go up too much and they raise the price back up.

 

At $23.29 silver, $139.95 for 2 ounces is still way out of line, compared to the normal rate the mint gouges us. Normal gouging would be somewhere around double the cost of the metal, so $99.95 would more than double their money. If the mint can’t make this set and show a profit at that price, well, what’s wrong at the mint?

Added: Still nothing in writing from the mint about either of the coins being exclusive to the set. After they screw us on the price, guess they plan on screwing us again by issuing one or both of the coins in another set, like they did with the 2012 set.

I'm giving up on mint products - going back to checking my change, much more enjoyable.

It's going to be interesting to see what the final mintage is going to be with the way the price is. I feel that the price is high but Being the ultimate collector guess I have to get a few. My wife is going to be mad at me again,I keep spending her Bingo money on ASE. Guess I will have to buy her a bottle of cheap wine to make up for my hobby.

Yeah, you're right, the same greed that drives the mint, drives collectors hoping to make a profit. Yet, the mint's sales continue to decline, not only because of ridiculous prices, but too, because they undermine their customers hopes of making a profit by reissuing limited coins in other sets.

 

Anyone else ready for Monday's sale? I know im ordering at least 2 for now.

I'm with you, spock, but I agree it's not going to happen. There are too many collectors with OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) who feel if they don't get everything issued by the Mint, they will miss out on a future extremely valuable item.

I don't plan on getting a set. I have had enough of the reverse proof saturation recently. I might get an "enhanced" ASE in the secondary market, if the price is right. We'll see.

For those who consider the premium percentage the Mint charges, with the price of silver in 2006, when the 3-coin ASE set was released, the premium was 165% of the then silver price.

For the 2-coin ASE set being released next week, at the current price of silver, the premium being charged is 190%, given an asking price of $140.00.

 

I agree.

I just don't understand the mint I guess, as a businessman. They have this complete freedom on certain coin series, and they simply do nothing. I envision what I would think would be relatively simple stuff, like:

1. A current year proof set done in high relief for $5 more per set.
2. Satin proof set
3. Ultra high relief version of a coin, say an ASE, territory quarter, or the like.
4. Off metal strikes of cents, or nickels, etc.
5. Trial strikes of US coinage

All of this stuff is pretty common, low tech stuff, and would, (heaven forbid), be stuff collectors, you know, their customers, would really enjoy. Lord knows, making your customer base happy is just bad for business.......

 

Six days to launch and still nothing in the ad stating either of the coins are exclusive to the set. Really!!! Coin publications, supposedly quoting the mint, state both coins are exclusive to the set, yet nothing in the mint ad. Is the mint just playing with us or do they plan on screwing us again or both?

Also note how the mint ad says sales end June 6th, yet Coin publications say sales end June 5th.
