    This is quite interesting. I haven't found one of these so I read your link , many thanks !
    From what it said the obverse of your coin may well have been the hamer die which is not the orientation of the dies that I thought was used since the mid 90's. Maybe Mr. Diamond will chime in .

    Correct. Since the vast majority of recent off-center strikes (2002-present) show the effect of a stiff collar, it should probably be called a "stiff collar effect" since it no longer amounts to a separate error. Schuler presses simply have stiff collars as a built-in feature.
