Good Morning, I received the 2012 Canada Maple Leaf Reverse Proof Titantic Privy (Mintage 25k) that I purchased last week. Can someone tell me how they made the front of the coin, not the Maple Leaf but the background. When I hold it a certain way the background looks white. Thanks. :)

Much the same way our U.S. proofs are made. Frosted dies on the design, mirror fields.

    Got any pics?

Ah, a "reverse proof" -- mirrored devices, and a frosted field.

I have been thiking about this, could the "white color" just be a reflection of light shining on the coin?

Without pics, we can't begin to give an informed opinion.

If its a maple leaf than it has to be milk spots, they are famous for them. :)

Serious don't they sand blast the die in those areas to give it the frosted look.

Everybody look at the picture on the link posted at #3!

It's a reverse proof. The fields are frosted, meaning they look white from any direction; the devices are mirrored, meaning they reflect whatever's in front of them. It's a novelty; I don't like the effect, but some do, and since reverse proofs are less commonly produced than "normal" proofs, they command a premium in some issues.

Thanks jeffB, and everyone else that replied. I like the looks of it myself, but to each there own.
