Good Morning, I received the 2012 Canada Maple Leaf Reverse Proof Titantic Privy (Mintage 25k) that I purchased last week. Can someone tell me how they made the front of the coin, not the Maple Leaf but the background. When I hold it a certain way the background looks white. Thanks.
I have been thiking about this, could the "white color" just be a reflection of light shining on the coin?
If its a maple leaf than it has to be milk spots, they are famous for them. Serious don't they sand blast the die in those areas to give it the frosted look.
Everybody look at the picture on the link posted at #3! It's a reverse proof. The fields are frosted, meaning they look white from any direction; the devices are mirrored, meaning they reflect whatever's in front of them. It's a novelty; I don't like the effect, but some do, and since reverse proofs are less commonly produced than "normal" proofs, they command a premium in some issues.
