If a majority of people think something stupid, it doesn't make what they think any less stupid. The uninformed outnumber the educated, that's true. There was a time that people were willing to pay ridiculous money for beanie babies, some even hoarding them as an investment, until the fad died and they realized there was next to no inherent value in them. Long term I think that's exactly what will happen with this. This set has no inherent value beyond the sum total of the value of the coins it contains, and right now paying $150 for this means you instantly lose money on the deal.

I think what I think and will not apologize for thinking that people who think differently are most likely wrong (until I see evidence that I'm wrong, then I'll change my views). Call me small minded if you will. But I don't think a majority vote is the basis of knowledge. At one time, a majority of people thought the sun revolved around the earth. The people who thought the earth revolved around the sun were right even when the majority disagreed. The majority probably thought those that said they were wrong were being insulting to their beliefs. So what, they were wrong, they deserved to be insulted.

P.S. Yes I know there's a different between things that can be proven or disproven factually, and statements that are merely opinions. But "monetary value" is something that can be measured, and I honestly believe this will not have long-term monetary value when people realize there's nothing inherently special about the coins in this set, and long-term I think this set will be considered a novelty at best and not worth any significant premium over what its contents are worth separately. Maybe I'm wrong; we'll see. But I think paying $150 for this thing hoping it will go up in value in the future is a sucker's bet. I think you'll lose value immediately on the initial purchase. And until I see evidence to the contrary I'll go right on believing that. Want to call that being small-minded and insulting to people who have different values, go ahead. But right now I think I'm better off owning $150 than owning this. And if you want to accuse me of being foolish for thinking that, I'll say I think you're being very insulting to me for holding different values than your own (works both ways, you see).

Anyone with me in thinking the mint should be spending its efforts trying to come up with new coins rather than ways of re-marketing and re-packaging coins they already make?
