2011 Jefferson Nickel-What is this Ring Obv. & Rev

Hi guys,

I have this 2011 P Jefferson Nickel and would like to know why there is a partial ring on the Obverse cutting the letters and also a full ring on the Reverse cutting the letters. Is this a Ridge Ring or do Ridge Rings only happen on Pennies?

My guess is it was A roll ender for a long time. Just a guess.

Yes ridge rings only occur for zinc cents.

I would say that that is a die deterioration issue.

Looks like a 'filled die' issue to me.

 

I saw it earlier.. Not sure. Maybe some sort of Deterioration issue. Or damage to both sides.

 

I honestly don't know what that is. To me, it is a form of die damage. Very similar in appearance to a ridge ring...hmm...

 

No they occur on other coins as well but they are nowhere near as common.

It has the look of a worn die but I’m really not sure.

 

Do you have any reference photo's ridge rings on other coins? I would be very interested to see this.
