The goobers are trying to save money by farming out part of their operation. Did you know that first class postage is the only service option that makes any kind of decent money for the Postal Service? I believe it's the only service option that shows a profit. Parcel post is a losing proposition with them. Has been for years. They'd be better off scraping the whole operation and letting either FDX or UPS run the business. At least those guys make money moving small packages. And then maybe our first class postal rates wouldn't be going up every six months....:)

Did not the government once sell the USPS to a private party? And, then buy it back when they discovered that there was a profit to be made?

USPS was never sold to a private party. It became an independent agency of the US Government back in '73 and remains so today.

My coins arrived safely today. The FedEx sight showed that the package was still in New Berlin, WI. Do not trust the FedEx site when trying to find out if it was released to USPS. This is my first picture and best I could do this morning. I am definitely not a professional photographer. What appears to be fuzz on the container, is fuzz. No scratches evident upon first examination. I'll examine them closer with a loupe this afternoon and also compare them to the 2007 and 2008. Got some errands to run this morning.

As long as you say the coin is not marked, than it is a nice one. I'm still waiting for my ship date to be posted. I think I'm going to have to call them on monday to see what's up.

FedEx has updated my parcels (two separate subscription orders) that they have arrived:

They have officially left the dreaded Edison, NJ hand-off site... :smile

So then, if they do not come later today, then Monday - 11/29 they should be here as the Mint and FedEx originally estimated for their delivery.
