Does anyone know if the Mint uses a real-time inventory system, so that sales will be cut off automatically when they sell out, or do they just keep taking orders and then cancel orders beyond what they can mint?
Way to go..I get to the checkout and hit the button..trys for a while then says server busy..hope I didn't order like 5 times..I hit quick checkout..not sure once you hit that button if the order goes through or you have to hit another button.
I ordered my 10 to sell and my 3 to keep. Somebody else is going to have an expensive Christmas. Signed The Grinch
Got my order done and complete in ~ 45 minutes, have received my confirmation email. So...here's to hoping they really do have them in stock to ship to me.
Great. Check my order for the 10 Eagles..Bottom says In Stock and reserved but order status near the top says Your order request has been suspended. Maybe sold out. Who knows.
Not to worry about that "suspend" notice Craig. Give it a day or too and it'll disappear and read "order in progress". I've seen the suspend mode before on a few of my orders in the past.
My order, from the subscription I have on file, says order in progress at top and at bottom says in stock and reserved. Now will they charge me right away today or not until right before they ship them?
My order request says it is suspended! I ordered a Silver Eagle, Silver and regular Proof Set ,and a uncirculated mint set. I wonder what this suspension thing is all about?
You still have a couple of more steps after that. The Mint's "quick" checkout is NOT like Amazon's one-click ordering. You will know that your order is completed when you see the web page with the order number. BTW, I have a theory about these coins. I think there are a TON of folks buying a lot of extra coins simply speculating on the hopes of flipping them for a quick profit on the (I believe, erroneous) theory that they will be scarce or will sellout, and therefore secondary market prices will go up. I think the opposite will happen. I think the Mint has a TON of these to sell - way more than demand - and that as soon as this becomes apparent, all of those "speculation coins" are going to get dumped on the secondary market for less than the Mint's price. By January I could see these coins being unloaded on eBay for $35 a pop or less. I wish there was some way to short the hell out of these coins.
This is consistent with my theory. The Mint will still be trying to unload these a month from now. Just watch.
Hi, just order my two set's and went to tracking to check if went in , got the same message on top of page, Your order request has been suspended, I hope like Green said all should be OK, Was funny in away as when I did my order only took 5 mins to get my two coins in. Looks like the US MINT has fix problem with orders not hanging up like last time I order from them on the Lincoln chronicle set and took 4 hours.
