No just a report that "a new Lincoln cent design is being released today in honor of Lincoln's Birthday."
I just spoke to the guys at the US Mint store and to the Union Station kiosk. They both had the same story: they haven't heard whether it will be rescheduled. (One guy guessed it would, and guessed it might be next week -- but he wanted to make sure I knew that he actually hadn't heard anything).
Thanks for the update. The Mint should put out an announcement/press release if they haven't yet as to when they plan on the DC event or if they finally decide to call it off now that the Springfield event has had this huge head start. Maybe they will just go on sale without and fanfare in DC.
I went to the release cerimony in Springfield. It was very cool. There really wasn't that big of a croud. I made it through the line 8 times and got 48 roll in about 2 1/2 hrs. They did have a six roll limit each time through.
I think the most anyone could have gone through the line was 5 times unless the line got awfully short in the last 10 minutes. I was the 47th person in line and I got immediately back in line each time and I could have only gone through the line 5 times total before they ran out. I'm not saying you're a liar, I just want to know how you did that? I had the help of my son and we went through 4 times and got 48 rolls total. Do you have someone helping you?
i have a question with the 2010 cents would you recommed buying a roll off ebay 9 ( i want both p&d) or on hsn they have 2 2010's p&d already graded for like $27 i know thats alot of money for 2cents but i would want to send them in to get graded so wouldnt the hsn deal be better? or are their coins not any good?
I would never advise anyone to buy from HSN (off TV or from their web site) or the other TV coin shows and offers... eBay will be marked up high right now for these coins. Wait and buy them from your bank if you can wait. There will be tons of them later on.
I did not have help. Just me, I got my coins and went back outside and got in line again. I didn't cheat or jump in line. After my eighth time I called it quits but i may have been able to make it through another time but they were running short. I talked to a couple people at the Post Office who did go through nine times. I guess im just a fast walker?
I got through the line 9 times. I don't know if your walker slowed you down, moen, but many of us got through 6 times or more
I have to say that I'm impressed with both of you. I had enough of lines by the 4th time through...:mouth:
Not yet. I did go to the post office in town here on Saturday. I figure as long as they are date stamped before the rest are released to the public, they are "first strikes". It was really funny at the local office. I told them what I wanted to do and why. Turned out that both clerks were into coins a little bit and were fascinated just to see what I had. I told the one clerk that it might take a while to get all of the rolls stamped, so he gave me the stamper and I walked over to the counter off in the corner and stamped them all myself. I wouldn't have even had to put stamps on them if I had chosen not to. I saw one of your sales on ebay today. Looked like your roll was going for about 20 bucks. I didn't watch it to the end but I got a sense from watching other sales that 20 bucks was about the going rate.
The single roll went for $8.50. I also sold a 5 roll lot for $43.99. I can't believe what people will pay for these things! It's obscene!
