Wow, you guys have some serious budgets to buy that many sets.....obviously to sell to others. Do you find good profit there? I ask out of curiousity. I have only one proof set to my name, though I have 20+ dansco albums. I have a 1992 silver proof set. Issue price was 21 bucks....it is worth about 18 bucks now. I haven't bought any others. comments?
Elaine...I have the Unc sets on my subscription list that should kick in on June 1st. Have you heard anything about them cancelling subscriptions and making people place orders at 12 noon as in recent sales of other items. I know they cancelled my Buffalo subscriptions, but I am wondering about the Unc sets. I'd hate to miss out because I thought they were coming.
the reason why the mint cancel your subscription is that they are not sure when they going to produce that. it might be suspended. maybe produce it by next year. while the mint set, clad proof set, and the silver proof set. these are already scheduled. clad proof set on jun 1, the other two should be around summer as stated by the mint.
If the Mint uses the same marketing logic as it has all year.....wouldn't the clad set be smaller mintage so it would sellout and make everybody want the higher priced silver set with a make 'em as many as they want mintage.....Mr. Moy we are catching on....:kewl: C'mon Mint make US some nice ones....:smile C'mon Pitney-Bowes send ME the best ones the quickest... C'mon PCGS be good to Chiefy....:hail:
tomorrow. jun 1. after 12:00 noon. the mint will sell the clad proof set. are you guys ready for it?.
Elaine, do you find these good investments over time. My only set, a 1992 silver proof set has gone down in price since issue date.
i think so. first. the only 6 pc quarters set. second. the only 4 pc cents set. third. the only 4 pc regular and unique coins set. like one native american dollar, one kennedy half dollar, one roosevelt dime, one jefferson nickel together in a case. have you seen this before?. not only that. this year mintage for every coins will be very few. now at least it will maintain at a good price. as for trading at a very high price. it will all depend the mintage. and also supply and demand.
Thanks. I think I'll order one tomorrow. Any thoughts on why my 1992 silver one has gone down in price since issue? Supply/demand probably, but I thought it was strange....
For bobbeth87: looks like the mintage (1,009,586) next years were half of that!!! As always it supply and demand that dictate the prices!! It happens!!
It'll also depend on if these are pulled from sale unexpectedly like the 2008 clad set. If the Mint keeps them on sale well into the following year (like the 2008 silver set), it could be awhile before they can command a premium.
I'm going to wait on ordering the clad proof set until the Guam quarter mintages are announced. May want to order some Guam rolls and/or mini-bags at the same time to save on shipping.
It depends on a lot of things. Most important is when the mint cuts them off. If they cut them off early it can boost prices.
I believe the only time the mint has cancelled subscriptions was when they were on limited mintage items and the subscription orders oversubscribed the mintage.
I am skipping the clad proof set but going in heavy on the silver proof set and the "Chronicles" set when they land. I really want a good stash of the lincoln proof cents but don't want to load up on the clad garbage. Plus, on the chronicles set, I can get some more Lincoln Commem. proofs.
Did anyone notice that the description just says bicentennial cents and says nothing about a special composition?
