mintage for the last four years: clad proof set: 2005 - 2,275,000 2006 - 2,000,428 2007 - 1,717,972 2008 - 1,405,674 silver proof set: 2005 - 1,279,472 2006 -- 934,360 2007 -- 907,268 2008 -- 745,464 - not final.
Why so many sets of the same year??? Also, You never answered my questions in post 18, which I quoted in this also...
A rule I go by is any year there is a new product that will be included in the proof set is I buy the silver proof set and I usually buy two or three of them. Im very glad that I bought three Silver proof sets in 1999, and I purchased two each year that had the new nickels and two silver proof sets in 2007. Otherwise its one silver set a year for me and thats enough. I wish I had bought a couple silver proof sets in 2001- anyone know why the 2001 is worth so much more than the other years recently? Please tell me it doesnt have to do with 9/11.
The 99's went way up, so in 2000 everyone jumped on board and ordered them. The 2000's just lay there, so in 2001 everyone jumped off again.
it is better to buy clad proof set rather than silver proof set. because the clad proof set will be very much cheaper to buy. we get four designs lincoln proof cent anyway.
i have a question on 1982 proof set. the lincoln cent is composed of 95% copper or the 97.5% zinc?. what variety they included in this set?. like small date or large date and so forth. anyone know about it. thanks.

I will buy a few, but will buy many more of the unc mint sets as these will be the only source for the P and D bronzies. Of course, everyone else will probably do the same and the Mint will end up making two or three million of them.
i don't think so. as for mint set. it should be below a million mark. two to three millions. price should drop heavily.
the best is to buy silver proof set. price the same as previous. and you get four more proof cent. but most likely. the clad proof set will be the most popular.
hopefully those three type of sets as mentioned. mintage should be far less than last year. and mint mint should limit it to the lowest possible. by this. it will boost the collectors mode.
i will buy 100 set 2009 clad proof set. 20 set 2009 silver proof set. 50 set 2009 mint uncirculated set. that's mean i will have 120 set 2009 prez proof set. 100 set 2009 clad quarters set. 200 set 2009 silver quarters set. 120 set four pieces 2009 lincoln cent proof set.
You probably already know that you can order them now. I've already got my 2009 mint sets ordered on subscription. I only ordered 2 sets, but will probably up that to 25 if they let us. The release date is just a few days away on June 1st 2009. It's kinda neat that we can go ahead and get the last 2 Proof Lincoln Cents before the business ones are released. 6/1/2009 2009 United States Mint Proof Set® Register today for this subscription program and you will receive the 2009 United States Mint Proof Set as your first set under this subscription program. Check out Elaine's listing of the mintage figures. The 2001 mintage was very low mintage among the 9+ pc sets. If the prices are jacked up again (I'm assuming they will be), with the expansion to 18 pieces, I'll be buying as many as I can reasonably afford. 10 sets at ~$50 is less than the cost of a ½-oz Gold Eagle, and should command premium with the low mintages likely. That being said, this would probably be a great year to buy gold and silver eagles too. The recession and low consumer confidence mean a lot of people aren't spending money on things like coins as much. Add to that the production suspension, and this year's proof/mint sets and gold/silver eagles should be fantastic investments.
try to figure out what exactly or how many should i buy this time. i mean the clad and silver proof set, the mint unc set. and some new spouses gold. any advise are weocome.
mint is selling clad proof set at $29.95 per set. last year was $26.95. this year the mint added five coins. one quarter and four pieces of penny. but the mint only add $3.00 for that 5 additional coins. the most interesting is the silver proof set. the silver currently move higher at over $15.00 an ounce. and the mint also added 5 coins. but the price remain at $44.95 a set. same with last year. what a bargain?. isn't it?.
I may up my order pattern from 3 sets to 5 sets of each. I'm not quite in 100 set category like Elaine. The silver proof set seems like a good deal to me. It has to at least keep its value unlike the 2004 set.
