I just called the mint a couple of minutes ago and they are claiming that the Lincoln silver dollars will ship out in 2-4 weeks. I hope that they ship out faster than that. They have already charged my Moms credit card and they usually do that right before they ship out the coins. BTW I also asked about the Lincoln cents and they said they will have them in spring but banks should have them before that. I have got a teller at Regions and Bank of America that will give me a call when they come in. hya:
got a charge today as well. Called the mint and they said it was charged and will be shipped out. On the site... in the catalog it mentions now that it would be avail for shipping 2/19.
I ordered a Proof Lincoln Dollar today and the site says they are backordered, which doesnt come as a shock.
Well, backordered till tomorrow? When we placed orders on 2/12, it said would not ship till at least the 19th.
Please correct me if I am wrong on the following statement. The mint will at first reserve part of you credit limit on your credit card when they are in the final stages of processing your order. Now when the mint actually charge your credit card, they are suppose to ship within a week. I am not sure why but I have this idea in my head..
Theoretically, yes. The usual procedure is not to charge you credit card until they actually ship the order. Oddly the claim they make on when it will ship seems to switch between March 4 and April 1... Anyway at least I know I'm getting one, eventually. Little piece of trivia for you: this will actually be the 3rd time that Lincoln will appear on a one dollar coin! Bonus points to anyone who can name his first and second appearances on dollars... And his 4th appearance is scheduled next year, in the presidential dollar series... Been on two quarters too. Illinois, and if you can name the other state quarter, it will give you a hint as to what his second dollar appearance was.
It would be interesting to collect all Lincoln coin appearances! I was told my order would be shipped the 19th of this month; then received an email saying sometime in April. Any notion of how much this commemorative sold?
I received my entire order of LN7 and LN8 Lincoln Silver Dollars today. They were delivered by UPS this time, and left on my porch. Maybe because the front is not visable nor accessable from the street, but the packaging was very sloppy. All capsules were tight inside the cases which kept them from being damaged, but it would seem with them sloshing all around inside the box it would be very likely to happen. Both Proofs and Uncs are gorgeous!
Just a note. I was involved in a Lincoln Bicentennial event, and received today a nice brochure from the U.S. Mint describing the commemorative. Promotional mailing. They used my business address, so my guess is that the mint is using some select databases in order to get the word out.
I'm not a good photographer, but here's a look at a couple of them. Hope this works. My finger touched the capsule on the first proof pic.
Gorgeous coin. the proof looks stunning. May even have one or two slabbed. When did you place your order for it? Card was charged but did not get shipping notice yet. Order hour and a half after was able to.
Thanks. I have put a few under the loupe and mic, and I cannot find any flaws whatsoever. There are a couple of specs on the capsules, but the coins are perfect. I like them original, in the mint pkgs. If I was looking to sell then I might have them slabbed, but I plan to keep everything in my safety deposit boxes. I placed my order within the first 5 minutes of opening. I'll bet everyone begins to get emails that their coins have shipped very soon! I ordered my UHR gold within the first 5 minutes too, but no word on it yet. Good luck to everybody!
The F'ers (that's short for Federal Express) have mine in Indiana.....should have it in two or three days. :smile
I got my two proofs today. Didn't see them yet - I almost tripped on the package as I ran out to catch the bus
I also received my Proof and Uncirculated coins. I am very pleased with them. Proof Obverse: Proof Reverse: Uncirculated Obcerse: Uncirculated Reverse:
