Except for coins sold at the Mint, there is no such thing as a Mint wrapped roll anymore. Coins are all wrapped by private companies that are contracted by the Mint. The roll what they have so while many rolls will be "pure" so to speak and be of one date....anythinmg can end up in the rolls. Thanks, Bill
I examined this coin in one of my photo-programs and I have no doubt that it is one where the plating was improperly applied to the strip from which the blank was cut. After the edge was upset, the planchet managed to be struck as a coin with improper plating. It is genuine and it is an error. Thanks, Bill
The plating is applied AFTER the blanks are punched and the rims upset. I'm sure you know that and just mis-spoke.
